Women in Jazz set out on a mission to champion notable women who are paving the way in Jazz. With the creation of their new digital series, Uncovered, audiences will get an in-depth look at talented female Jazz musicians who are making heed in a predominantly male industry. It will feature both an interview and performance from the artists. Founders Louise Paley and Nina Fine created this series with the intent “to continue to celebrate the musicianship and stories of artists. To continue to inspire the next generation of talent…Our new digital platform champions the top female talent in jazz, exploring their artistry through live performance and storytelling.”
For the first show, they are shining the spotlight on Celeste, a 26-year-old musician who took home Brit’s “Rising Star” award in 2020 and who is currently sitting atop the UK’s Album Chart Top 100 with her newest album Not Your Muse. The interview touches on how music shaped her at a young age and closes out with a raw and powerful performance of her song ‘Some Goodbyes Come With Hellos.’
The next episode is set to showcase Jas Kayser, UK-based drummer and composer, who is well-known for her appearance in Lenny Kravitz’ ‘Low’ music video.
