Field Music have just released a new podcast series, titled The Field Musicast. The band have been busy recently, releasing a new music video for their single ‘Not When You’re in Love‘.
Field Music has a running theme in the first couple of episodes of the series. They take songs from their new album Flat White Moon, and talk about how they wrote each song, and sharing the influences that inspired them to create the tracks.
Episode one is focused on the first track of the new album ‘Orion From the Street’, released in January this year. The duo talks about a variety of different topics, like their hip-hop influences and their best Bob Dylan impressions. With each episode, there are two options. You can listen with music featured, or listen without, which is great if you just want to focus on the conversation. Otherwise, if you are unfamiliar with the works of Field Music, you can explore their discography through the narration of the band.
The latest episode talks through the production of their third single from the album. Featuring a performance of the start of the track, the band discuss how the track originated as a piano riff, and their jazz influences. They were properly introduced to jazz twenty years ago, finding it initially complex and difficult. Over time, the band have grown to understand the complexities of the genre, applying it to their own projects.
