Sports release new EP ‘Get a Good Look Pt.1’

Tulsa based duo Sports have released the first part of their highly anticipated album in an EP format, titled ‘Get a Good Look Pt.1.’ It’s the band’s first full-length release since their 2018 album ‘Everyone’s Invited.’

Much like the rest of their discography, this EP is extremely relaxed in terms of its overall sound. This is an area that Sports seem to excel at across their work. The EP also follows very stereotypical tropes of the bedroom pop genre, with odd hints of psychedelic pop. Each track is bursting with jazzy guitars and synths galore. Arguably, ‘Get A Good Look, Pt.1’ is some of the duo’s best work to date. It’s a rollercoaster through the band’s catchy soundscape, ‘Call Me Anytime’ is a slow burner of a track. It entices their listeners through the use of repetition, on the build-up to an astounding guitar solo.

The first track to be released from this EP was ‘Tell You Something.’ It is an extremely experimental track filled with the delicate sound of drums and trumpets throughout the bridge. ‘Never Know’ follows, a stylish embodiment of the ‘I can’t do anything right’ attitude. Amongst the funky collection of tunes, these singles really are the standouts alongside ‘Don’t Get Me Started.’ This is a rhythmic reflection on the frustrations of the music industry.

‘Get A Good Look Pt.1’ is where fans can definitely see that Sports’ musical style has matured and become much more refined since their debut ‘Naked All The Time’ was released in 2015.
