Violet Release New Single ‘Fade’

Midlands indie band Violet have made their return in 2021, with their new single ‘Fade.’

Beginning with a climbing baseline, ‘Fade’ sounds like a dramatic mix of The Night Cafe, JAWS and Forever Cult. The percussive introduction is initially complicated and intricate, throwing the listener straight into the world of Violet’s music. The initial almost soothing guitar melody races into a heavier and more rock-fuelled refrain. Echoing vocals on the pre-chorus create an unhinged and eerie effect, before exploding into the main chorus.

“I don’t mind / I’m lost, a waste / You took it all / And made me cry”

Violet began their musical career with the release of their debut single ‘Feel’ in 2017. Since then, they have performed on tour with artists like SPINN, and captivated audiences through their 2019 debut EP ‘Feels Like Heaven.’ Their tracks have been praised by the likes of Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq on their BBC radio shows. ‘Fade’ was produced by Catherine Marks at the Assault & Battery Studio, a track that was deemed to be a fan favourite from their live gigs.

Ringing and humming guitar tones build an to a dark antithesis, bringing back Luke Brickett’s iconic main vocals. The main backing vocals provide an ethereal and warm feel to the track, developing an overall strong and meaty indie banger.

“Come tomorrow / I’ll be far away / In my darkness / Another day”

Violet’s sound is drenched in 90s nostalgia, delivering husky baselines and luring vocals. Through depressive lyrics and capricious melodies, they are able to keep listeners on their toes throughout their tracks, providing an indie-inspired, modern definition to the grunge genre.
