Back with a bang, R&B’s newest power group BLK has returned with their sophomore single ‘FWM’. The Toronto-based trio offer up a fresh, exciting sound that is both perfectly nostalgic yet crisp and contemporary.
The sultry track is sprinkled with honeyed vocals and a whole lot of sass, as Bexk, Lilac X and Khatalia-Korahjay assert their awe-inspiring fearlessness. Delivering an important message in their lyrics, the trio exudes confidence as they urge their listeners to be bold, brave and to celebrate their individuality. Korahjay explains, “We are changing the narrative on women working together”. Bringing a level of unmatched energy to the music industry, BLK embraces and unites each of their unique talents, to create something really striking.
Stronger together, the band are here to illustrate the importance of supporting other women, and how empowering it can be. Making waves in Canada and beyond, BLK has caught people’s attention since they first burst onto the scene last year. They garnered over 1 million streams on their previous single ‘Got It‘, remixed by Fatman Scoop.
Comparable to the sounds of Normani, Destiny’s Child and Chloe x Halle, BLK are unapologetically forging their own path in the industry and making a big statement whilst doing so. The band are said to be planning a debut EP release for the summer, so keep an eye out for new tracks!
