Caroline Marcela Zandona, better known as Zelha, has released her third single titled ‘What’s the Point?’
Earlier this year, Zelha released her second single. ‘Empty Calls‘ was featured on both Belgian and London local radio stations, with great reviews. As she has never been keen on being the one in the spotlight, she discovered herself and a way of expressing her emotions through songwriting. This led to her moving to London in pursuit of a full-time career in music.
‘What’s The Point?’ is a catchy pop tune that shouldn’t fly under anyone’s radar. It focuses on the feelings of insecurity and indecisiveness when going into a relationship, something a lot of people can relate to. All of these feelings are wrapped up neatly into a clean-cut pop tune. Whilst there can be a lot of doubt and regret when starting a new relationship, it is always important to take a second look, as it could be better for both parties. Zelha references these issues in this track, with her biggest musical influences being Lorde and Paramore’s Hayley Williams. These two influences are clear in Zelha’s songwriting, and the music she has subsequently produced.
You are immediately caught up in this track, from the first lyrics: “There’s glitter in my slippers from the party last night“. This simple line evokes the entire scene and setting for this track. 30 seconds in and you’re already hit with the track’s incredibly catchy chorus, a melody I’ve been humming along to for days (with no complaints). One of my favourite parts of the song is in the chorus, where you can hear three repeated notes in between the vocals. I promise that these three notes will prevent you from keeping still, a sign of a well-produced, catchy pop track.
‘What’s the Point?’ is Zelha’s final single before her June EP release, which will include more songs revolving around dysfunctional relationships and personal self-discovery. I can’t wait to hear what else she has in store for us!
