Only Sun have just released their latest single ‘Thinking of You.’
‘Thinking of You’ begins as a nostalgia-fuelled indie-synth track, with gentle synths and powerhouse vocals. The instrumentals ultimately build and twist, as Only Sun take the genre down a whole new path. As the synths switch up with a heavy guitar section midway through the song, we begin to hear the fresh perspective these guys are bringing to indie rock. The classic, punchy indie vocals as though they have been a part of the scene way longer than the band have existed. It feels both fresh and established, a timeless quality that suggests that this band will continue to rise. Ultimately, this means that this band are clearly going to be power players in the scene.
This track is the perfect build-up to summer 2021, drinking in the park with your portable Bluetooth speaker. Whilst listening to ‘Thinking of You’, I immediately feel like I am sun-drenched at a festival. I can only imagine that Only Sun will become regulars on the summer festival circuit.
‘Thinking of You’ joins the singles ‘Weird Wins‘ and ‘Extraordinary‘ on the lead up to Only Sun’s debut album. ‘Tangled Mind’ will be released at the end of April, following a regular release of singles and EPs the band have released since 2016. ‘Tangled Mind’ will explore the concept of mental wellbeing, and after 2020, there are certainly many facets of these highs and lows that can be explored. If ‘Thinking of You’ is anything to go by, then Only Sun are one to watch this year.
