Luna Morgenstern releases new single ‘In My Head’

Singer Luna Morgenstern has released her debut single ‘In My Head‘, and it is a powerful track to begin her career in the music industry.

This is not Luna’s first release as a singer, as she has previously been featured on songs by pølaroit and Jules Ahoit, however ‘In My Head’ is her first release as a solo artist. This song was created by Morgenstern in her bedroom where she wrote, produced and mixed it herself. She believes that producing her own music is very important, as female producers are severely underrepresented in the music industry today.

Over the past few days, she has already racked up almost 7k streams on Spotify, an impressive feat for a debut single. After listening to the song, it isn’t hard to understand why people like it so much. The single is extremely catchy, and has many earworm melodies. ‘In My Head’ is a clear dream pop song with modern elements. The experimental introduction features people talking, as well as minimal productions with just synths and percussion supporting her vocals in the first verse.

I can imagine that this single could be featured in a coming of age movie, where the character is making a critical decision. It reminds me of the final scene in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, but could easily feature on a Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack. The song is an easy listen, and no matter your music taste, you’ll enjoy this new track. My favourite moment is the turning point after the bridge when everything comes back and floods your head. The finale becomes more chaotic and leaves an open end and abrupt stop. This is an uncommon musical motif, but I like this unconventional ending and how it differentiates from the rest of recent releases.

I am excited to hear what Luna Morgenstern has planned for the future, with her debut EP due for release in July.
