After releasing their debut album Lie Out Loud in August of last year, BLOXX are back with a new track titled ‘Everything I’ve Ever Learned’.
Vocalist Fee Booth shares how the past two years have been difficult for her in the track’s lyrics. The song is extremely important, reflecting one person’s personal journey, through realising and understanding that you have to accept what life throws at you, whether it’s positive or negative. This may have been one of the most personal songs BLOXX has ever released to date.
“The depth of what it means to me as a person [in] just a four-minute piece of music. It faces the trials of life and everything that you wish you’d have been taught before having to face it all brutally, in the real world” – Vocalist Fee Booth on ‘Everything I’ve Ever Learned’
BLOXX filmed the music video for the track in a classroom, linking back to the way that some of the members met whilst studying in college. The scenes are reminiscent of the worst days of your childhood, taking you back to a class full of students in detention. From the artwork of the single to the music video itself, ‘Everything I’ve Ever Learned’ is essentially a self-help song. If you’re looking for a tune to motivate you or if you feel alone, this song will help you with your own personal journey.
The single is about learning, with heavy references to school, from the repetitive lines that you had to write in detention, to uniforms and classrooms. Although this track isn’t directly about the learning that takes place in formal education, it does focus on your own personal progression, learning more about yourself and your surroundings.
