bigfatbig release new single ‘Don’t Wanna Be Sad’

It seems as though the pandemic is never going to be over, but bigfatbig are still coming through with fierce, indie-rock bops. The North Eastern trio present ‘Don’t Wanna Be Sad’, a mantra that many have entered 2021 with, after the shit storm that was 2020. Released this month by Blank Studios, ‘Don’t Wanna Be Sad’ is the band’s fourth single, after exploding onto the scene in 2019.

‘Don’t Wanna Be Sadis an impassioned and raw single with a fiery, aggressive drumbeat that keeps the track’s energy high throughout. The infectious, bold chorus of “I don’t wanna wanna wanna be sad anymore / I don’t wanna wanna wanna be sad” invokes the sense of picking yourself up and battling on with the situation at present.“This song is the voice of that turning point, it’s the voice of a time of realisation that changing your life takes a tangible and persistent effort.” With gutsy vocals ringing out the empowering message, bigfatbig produce a grunge track that uplifts all those who listen to it.

In the press release for the track, the band stated of their latest offering: “For a time, the chorus lyric “I don’t wanna be sad anymore” became something of a mantra for all of us. The monotony of feeling so consistently low struck a chord in recognising that just acknowledging a difficult time is not enough to do something about it, but it’s definitely the first step.”

With three previous singles that stay true to their 90’s grunge homage, bigfatbig have captured the hearts of the nation with their raw lyrics, catchy indie-rock guitar riffs and heavy bass. Landing a place on BBC Sounds’ Hot List and being one of BBC Introducing’s Tips For 2020, bigfatbig are in session.
