Only two months after their debut album release, Sea Girls are back with a new song. One of the featuring tracks on the DIRT 5 soundtrack, Accident Waiting to Happen is here to satisfy your cravings, if you’re already hungry for another banger. The band appears to be unable to stand still, even in times like these. Maybe that’s just what we need: a band on full speed.
The introduction sounds like something from a new wave song, with a synthesizer and rock guitar. However, 15 seconds in when lead vocalist Henry starts to sing, the drums and bass mingle and play a heavier role.
The chorus is powerful, and the guitars become more prominent in the second chorus: “Well I know this feeling and it don’t end well. Can we last the night, it’s too soon to tell.” The lyrics tell a story about getting involved with someone and trying to make it last as long as possible. However, despite gaining the high you were looking for, you are likely going to look back and regret your actions.
TheDIRT 5 soundtrack features a variety of artists, like Twin Atlantic and The Chemical Brothers. As far as my knowledge goes for driving games, they are all about driving fast and furious. The speed and intensity of the track accompany that feeling. As the sound of the track intensifies over the course of the song, it does really sound like a perfect song to pump up your adrenaline. I mean – that is what I envision, as someone who does not own a driver’s license aged 22. I failed three times because of anxiety, but if I was racing a car 93/mph– this track would definitely be in my playlist.
After two or three listens you are able to sing the chorus from the top of your lungs, and likely being stuck in your head for the next few months. When I close my eyes, I can imagine a crowd at a festival jumping along to songs like these. Accident Waiting to Happen was made for live performances, and I am longing for the day I can hear it live.
